"Everything was taken care of - food, accommodation, transport, walks - made me feel very relaxed. I would recommend it to anyone who wanted to get away and switch off from work. They worked hard to ensure that we saw the best of the Great Ocean Walk in a relatively short space of time." Jill
finally a walking tour dedicated to solo travellers!
enjoy great company with other solo travellers as together you tackle Australia's Great Ocean Walk
we're sure you will be impressed and surprised by the standard of the accommodation
daily walks vary from 8km to 19km
average daily walking is 15.8km per day
total distance is approx 80km
the walk is achievable for most walkers and requires a reasonable level of fitness - if you walk or exercise regularly you should be fine
highlights include remote beaches, rugged clifftops and stunning views
one day is rated 'hard' due to the accumulation of repeated hills throughout the day - this is also the most spectacular day's walking
we provide walking poles & gaiters to make your walking easier
"AWT looked after me from the first email contact. Questions were always answered and the whole experience was very positive." October, 2010

Overall Walking Grade: Medium | Grades 2 to 4 under the Australian Walking Track Grading System
Built recently to compliment Victoria's famous Great Ocean Road the Great Ocean Walk stretches for 104km from Apollo Bay to near the 12 Apostles east of Port Campbell. Our walk tackles all the most spectacular sections of the walk with walking sections averaging around 15km per day (some days a bit more, some days a bit less). This is an inspiring walk which has rapidly gained popularity amongst walkers as one of Australia's best walking trails.
For this walking tour we have chosen our favourite sections which we think highlight the best of the Great Ocean Walk. Our guides use their knowledge and expertise to maximise viewing opportunities down along the tidally influenced beaches. As well as our friendly experienced guides we employ local guides to deliver specific historic and cultural interpretations, to allow you to learn more of the Aboriginal and European history and culture of this significant area.
Our accommodation is comfortable in custom designed 4 star deluxe cabins. Our chef provides nutritious and welcoming meals each morning and evening. At breakfast we prepare our lunch for the trail ourselves using the spread that has been prepared.
As walkers, we know how important good quality food is on a walking holiday and with Frank's expertise in the kitchen ensures you won't go hungry. Our packed hikers' lunches a real treat and ensure we are well catered for at lunch and rest stops along the trail.
"Great guys. Mitch was an exceptional guide. He watched everyone carefully to ensure they were safe, gave us excellent information about the locations we visited and what we saw along the way and he carried hot water for our morning tea. What a guy. " Alan

Jo Bowtell | Guide, Great Ocean WalkI love a challenge and take every opportunity to escape outdoors, whether it’s hiking, camping, sea kayaking or rogaining, any activity that allows me to be immersed in our wonderfully diverse, natural environment.
I’ve hiked in the remote Australian bush, stunning coastal areas and the spectacular Himalayas. I love an adventure and I am passionate about helping people along their journey to discover new places.
I have run a successful flower business in Geelong for the passed 12 years and I am in the final stages of completing a Diploma in Outdoor Recreation.
Jo commenced guiding for AWT in 2011.
Originally from Tasmania, I have been resident in Melbourne for the past 15 years (transported from Van Diemen's Land for the crime of needing work).
My passion is the outdoors – which I have followed in various pursuits for over 40 years. I am currently active in rock climbing, mountaineering, backcountry skiing (AT & telemark), sea kayaking, cycling and bushwalking.
My partner is Jannie, who shares my passion for the outdoors. Together we have climbed, walked and skied most places in Victoria, parts of the Main Range and Tasmania; and have had regular summer and winter mountaineering, skiing, and kayaking trips to New Zealand.
I hold current Wilderness First Aid and Australian Ski Patrol Advanced Emergency Care qualifications and am an active member of Alpine Search and Rescue Victoria, Mt Stirling and Mt St Gwinear Ski Patrols, New Zealand Alpine Club and Victorian Climbing Club.
Mitch is a contemporary of AWT’s founder Andy Reynolds. Both are active members of Victoria’s Alpine Search & Rescue and Bush Search & Rescue organisations and regularly attend searches for missing walkers in Victoria. “Mitch” commenced guiding for AWT in 2010.
"We were well looked after as a group and individually. Andy and Mitch were always approachable, professional and safety conscious. I was able to relax and not have to think about anything - made it a great holiday."
"What amazing men to keep us so motivated even on the worst days. I could have kept walking with this support."
